Sonja Lotta’s photography focuses in highlighting daily life scenes. She challenges and confronts their banalities with alienated aspects, to which she adds a narrative. Sonja Lotta’s artistic objectives are to enhance these scenes with new identities that inspire questions, but at the same time connect them.
Die Bildsprache ist stark vom alltäglichen Leben inspiriert, dessen verschiedene Aspekte sowohl dokumentiert, als auch verfremdet werden. Durch unterschiedliche Blickwinkel wird der Alltag immer wieder neu beleuchtet. Spielerisch werden weitere erzählerische Ebenen hinzugefügt, welche über den Alltag hinausgehen und einen Ansatz bieten diesen anders wahrzunehmen. Es sind in sich abgeschlossene Projekte in kleinen Editionen. Ein roter Faden geht durch all meine Arbeiten, der geprägt ist von Emotionen und dem Begriff der Zeit. Emotionen, welche unsere Lebensentscheide beeinflussen, ja sogar dominieren, sind allgegenwärtig. Wie wäre es denn gewesen, wenn ich dort eine andere Entscheidung getroffen hätte? Wäre ich jetzt woanders? Die Zeit im Sinne von Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft, aber auch die banale Zeit des Alltages, welche meistens zu knapp ist, interessiert mich im Zusammenhang mit meiner Kunstpraxis. Was “ist” und “was wäre wenn” sind die Fragen, die mich nie ganz loslassen und mich durch den Alltag und die Kunst begleiten.
